Birthdaypalooza

When it comes to birthdays and my Bean, I am a ‘go big or go home’ kinda mom.  I mean there is no overtly extravagant parties and no Ferris wheels are rented but Pinterest is consulted, balloons are blown up and ice cream is served for breakfast.

This year, we learned that our local park was showing Frozen in the park followed by fireworks on Bean’s birthday.   Yup,  it was a match made in heaven so a BBQ was planned,  followed by a walk to the park for a 4 year old  birthday after party that Kim and Kanye would be hard pressed to beat.

To say Logan was excited was a ridiculous understatement and so with a freshly healing incision and the post-surgery endurance of a geriatric caterpillar, I called in the re-enforcements.  Thankfully, I have a crafty genius for a friend that whipped up the Elsa capes for all the girls in an hour.  (I mean, seriously, thank God for surgery, that would have taken me days).  The grandparents divided up the food and in the end, the kids had the time of their lives.

In the end, the only indicator that I was off my game was the lack of photos.  I am a chronic mamarazzi and have a camera or Iphone in my hands at all times and where most birthday parties are followed by a lazy morning on my deck scrolling through a couple hundred photos, this year I had 23.  In the end, we were surrounded by our family and friends and photos or not, that is all that really matters.
